Art Tile Workshops at Camas Ridge!

Last week the Camas Pedal team helped Camas Ridge hold four clay tile workshops. The tiles will be displayed along the retaining wall and footings of our bike shelter! The kids started by rolling out clay and cutting out a square. They then were able to paint whatever they wanted on it. The kids were very excited and creative with their tiles, which ranged from dragons to polka dots. Every student in the school got to make a tile, and they should be up sometime next fall.

By displaying student work as an integral part of the bike shelter design, students can take ownership over the project, pointing them out to friends and family, knowing they contributed to the shelter.

Thank you to all the parents and teacher for their help and their kids! A special thanks to head custodian Larry Meyers (pictured above) for putting on the whole project, providing the supplies, and firing all the tiles. Together there were 285 tiles produced and we will be back at it in the fall  to produce another 300.
